On a side note, the belt does not complicate the reloading process at all for me, I just ignore it. Size the fired case to fit the chamber as if there was no belt.

The short, fat cartridges do present a new set of challenges when reliable magazine feeding comes into play, especially when long for caliber, heavy bullets are used. Physical geometry of the cartridge together with the popular marriage to small actions make for interesting feeding problems.

People have problems when the chamber is not cut correctly
IF head-spaced on the belt then the case can stretch to fit the shoulder to the "gap" in the chamber leading to case separation.
Nearly all of the "range-pickup" cases I have are swollen just ahead of the belt
IF head-spaced on the belt what use is the shoulder ?

COAL increased to 64mm / shoulder to 12.47mm / shoulder angle to 56deg

Few things to check before making / machining a body die to form cases and send to reamer maker
( Working backwards )

Match chamber and dies so brass is worked as little as possible

Take down 30-06 barrel can be re-chambered to test - before getting a brand new barrel

Will achieve slightly slower but similar velocities to Newton with less powder

Original 30 Newton brass can be obtained ( when a batch is run ) - at about US$5.00 a case
My whole raison d'etre for this development is that 300WM brass is readily available and "cheap"

Barrel - action - weapon.  Licence a barrel, yes, understood. Licence a barrel, yes understood. A combination of both is then a weapon . To licence a 2 nd barrel for that weapon = a two barrel weapon ?
Then if you have a action lying around, putting that barrel on it makes it a weapon for which u need a licence again.
If I break my action, I have a illegal barrel licenced as a weapon ? I can carry on with this ................

Theoretically, one buys a second, third and fourth set of barrels for a shotgun, then one has one set for trap, one for skeet, one 16ga for the missus, and one in .410 for the kids.

License them accordingly, and carry the correct licenses.

Similar with a rifle, although the change of barrels is more permanent unless it is designed to do so, like the Blasers.

I already have a HOWA 300 Win Mag ..with a 308 barrel - thus the use of and modification of the 300WM
It would be quite possible to have multiple barrels for the same action - for future wildcats

You're overthinking it.

It's simple - you can license a second barrel for a rifle.

I think that's the mechanism in place for switch barrel rifles,  and the T/C variety, which you can make use of.

Yes licensing a new barrel and a change of calibre is from all the reports I have read a long wait nightmare ?
Only mentioned HOWA and barrel as that is what the action / receiver is - and the fact that they do not supply barrels
I understand about any other barrel blank from the other barrel makers
As I understand a new barrel ranges in price from approx R5,000 up to R9,000.00 even from SA manufacturers
Perhaps you know of somewhere cheaper ?
