Greetings all ,New year - new choices , new decisionsSo - I need a good riflescopebutWHAT to buy ?The application .. bit of plains hunting - longest shot about 300m , bit of target and sport shooting out to about 400 / 500mThe Budget .. very little :( So more on the entry / budget level - I am not averse to something previously used in VG conditionMy homework ( what I think I should get - approximations ).. 1.) Magnification = 3x - 15x2.) 30mm tube3.) 50mm objectiveSolid build /good glass / good parallax etc etc - all the normal good stuff as defaultI am not too worried about size or weightNow to turrets - capped / exposed / tactical ?Do you compensate and hold over or do you "dial" ?I think I like exposed turrets and especially "zero-stop" = more for sport shooting ( gongs )The brands / manufacturers (in the budget range ) - that seem to have good solid reputations ?ARKENHAWKEELEMENTLYNXWho have I left out ? ( I am trying to stay mainstream for warranty and support )Do they have any hidden "gotchas" / faults / drawback ?Before I go visiting gunshops to look at what stock they have I would appreciate input by those that have experience in this area.Thank you

An older model 4 - 16 x 50 for a good price .. now I need 30mm STEEL rings
Once I have it set up I will let you know how it works

Love my Vortex stuff,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,so far.

Vortex products are undeniably world class, and the warranty service is excellent, nobody ever made a mistake buying Vortex.
I'm not a fan of any brand, I just need a particular set of features with a certain performance level, and if I have to choose between two suppliers where they both give me what I need but one is double the price of the other, the decision is made for me.
