I've had that when using VPN on Jaracal, Cast Boolits and here.

The forum might accept "foreign" IP addresses as spam.

They are trying to eliminate spam sign-ups by blocking IP ranges.

That's like plugging a hole in the dam with your finger.

It has been a while since we had spam coming through, so something is preventing it.

In the case of Cast Boolits they just blacklisted SA IPs because we're geting to the point where we are out-frauding the Nigerians.

Spam signups are automated. There is no human intervention. They spam signups use fictitious email addresses. The spam bot will then flood the forum with links for the unsuspecting to click on.

This site works on membership by email request, which ensures that the email provided is valid to receive the account activation instruction, which needs a human to action.

Heinrich tried to whitelist my IP'S,  but either he wasn't successful or the blanket ban on asian connections do not allow whitelisting IP's in that range.

This site doesn't use ip blocking. It was in place previously. It proved ineffective and was cancelled.
